About Chef Azmin Ghahreman
Chef Azmin Ghahreman is a culinary citizen of the world. Born in Iran and educated in Geneva, Switzerland, he received his formal culinary training in French cuisine at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. He has lived and worked all over the globe. Chef Azmin has served as the executive chef at international 5-star resorts, has partnered with Crystal Cruises, and through the years, has created several of his own highly successful culinary-inspired businesses.
In 2007, after holding executive culinary positions around the globe, Chef Azmin Ghahreman opened his restaurant, Sapphire Laguna, and the adjacent gourmet specialty shop, Sapphire Pantry, to share foods and ingredients inspired by cultures from around the world. Since the beginning, the restaurant and shop were embraced by the Orange County community and visitors alike. The seasonally evolving menu, featuring globally-inspired cuisine, incorporates the freshest ingredients available, many of which are found at local farms, specialty markets and artisan suppliers. His motto has always been, “when you travel through the world’s markets with your palate, you don’t need a passport.”
In addition to providing world-class cuisine, he is just as committed to bettering childhood nutrition, and in 2008 founded Sapphire at School. The innovative school lunch program currently partners with 9 schools in Orange County and prepares fresh wholesome and flavorful meals to more than 4,500 students daily.
He is actively involved with local efforts to educate children about healthy and sustainable foods, as well as cause-related organizations including MaxLove Project, The March of Dimes, Live for Others Foundation, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the National Kidney Foundation, Miracles for Kids, and the AIDS Foundation.

Also providing a full service culinary experience on the premises of the business with upscale customized dining to fit the unique office culture by offering healthy, hand-prepared meals for employees and clients to enjoy.

He is a chef, sommelier, master mixologist, and expert in global spices and cooking techniques. He is known for saying, “the sky is not the limit.” Chef Azmin resides in San Juan Capistrano and shares his life and culinary passions with his wife, Laura, and four children.
